ABOUT DEATH
The Sandman is an American comic book series written by Neil Gaiman and published by DC Comics. Artists include Sam Kieth, Mike Dringenberg, Jill Thompson, Shawn McManus, Marc Hempel, and Michael Zulli, lettering by Todd Klein, and covers by Dave McKean. Beginning with Issue Number 47, it was placed under DC's "For Mature Readers" Vertigo imprint. It tells the story of Dream of the Endless, who rules over the world of dreams. It ran for 75 issues from January 1989 to March 1996, with Gaiman's contract stipulating that the series would end when he left it.
The main character of The Sandman is Dream, also known as Morpheus and other names, who is one of the seven Endless siblings. The other Endless are Destiny, Death, Desire, Despair, Delirium who was once Delight, and Destruction who turned his back on his duties. Each of the brothers and sisters inhabit and are the anthropomorphic personifications of their concepts.
Death is the most recurring of the other Endless in The Sandman. She is the younger sister of Destiny, the older sister of Dream, and the eldest female personification amongst the siblings. She is portrayed as a pale, slender young woman with wild black hair, described by some characters as "foxy." She is intelligent and wise, but also possesses a cheerful and positive attitude. She is quite keen on the "simple things" in life, such as eating certain foods, watching movies and making friends. She collects floppy hats and has a pet goldfish. Her symbol, or sigil, is the ankh.
She initially appeared in The Sandman Issue No. 8, The Sound of Her Wings, which served as the epilogue of the first series story arc, Preludes and Nocturnes. The issue was also compiled with the next arc, The Doll's House. She also had two titular three-issue mini-series, The High Cost of Living (1993) and The Time of Your Life (1996).

The launching design of Teleute features a black and purple picture of Death smiling over a cup of coffee. The quote on the image is from The Sandman Issue No. 43, the third installment of the Brief Lives story arc. She says to a character, who died after living thousands of years, "You lived what anybody gets, Bernie. You got a lifetime."
